At the WRC

In May this year, HireQuip enjoyed it's first of many years association with the Rally of New Zealand as the official Hire Equipment supplier.

With the event running over 3 days through 21 locations from Whangarei in the North to Raglan in the South, HireQuip supplied a wide range of equipment to just about every stage.

Over the course of the event, HireQuip supplied light towers, portable toilets, generators, over 2.5km of electrical cables, many marquees, 6.2km of fencing, portable buildings, furniture, hoists, event lighting, water filled barriers, hospitality facilities, road cones and much, much more. All this equipment was supported by HireQuip's events management team, site management staff, electricians, plumbers, sanitation services team, logistics and transport crews.

Highlights of the rally included the main service park on Queen Wharf which was open to public for the first time in many years. Public could get up close with their Rally heroes and watch the teams as they worked on their cars, sneak a few autographs and get photos with the HireQuip Rally girls. Special stages were run at Hampton Downs on Saturday, a magnificent motor sport venue and through the Auckland Domain on Friday night. With approximately 25,000 people attending this free event, it proved to be a great promotion for the sport and a shining example of how events can really promote not only a sport, however, but also a city and a region.

For the record, Ford drivers Jari-Matti Latvala and Miikka Anttila took out the event by 2.4 seconds after coming from behind in the last stage when the lead changed a number of times. NZ Rally reflects New Zealand's 'can do' attitude towards such events, with many fanatic volunteers working hard in many areas from cleaning and transport vehicles through to scrutineering and managing safety throughout the event to ensure its success.
